The woman laying on the table jumps at Zarik slamming the table. With a flash of red across her wings and eyes, she shrieks, "What in the hell is going on?"
Turning her attention to Zarik, she continues, "You knew I started falling asleep! Why did you do that!?" Seeing the boy at the edge of the platform, she calls out, "Come over here, Reyn. We've told you multiple times to stay away from the edge." |

Without missing a beat, Neris follows her overly excited child. Not exactly to greet the newcomer, but to wrangle the boy before he gets on anyone's nerves.
Scooping Reyn up by pinning his wings to his side and carrying him back to the table, setting him on her lap. The boy flails in vain and grumbles as his sparks flare into tiny bursts of flame in reaction to his mother's coronal heat. "Sorry about him, Bel." She says as she wrestles with Reyn's flailing, "You know how he gets around you." |

Neris has been more focused on calming Reyn down to pay much attention to the conversation as it begins to unfold, seemingly stuck on Bel's response, she says, "It really is, though. Reyn needs to realize that he can't just do to others what he gets mad at the girls for doing to him."
Preempting protest from the boy, she quickly adds, "You don't like how everyone wants your attention, and you get angry about it. How do you think Bel feels when you jump on him like the girls do to you?" |

She taps on her temple to try to think for a moment. At length, she muses, "That sounds awful familiar somehow... But I can't put my finger on it." |

Neris diverts her gaze at Bel's mention of the dungeon, and quietly says, "Oh..." the mere mention of it makes a noticeable change in her demeanor. Even though it was several lifetimes ago for her, she is visibly distressed by the mention.
Trying to compose herself, she says, "I'm sorry to hear that. Though, I suppose that would explain why an elf would want to be around people like us. I don't know a whole lot about them, but I've heard elves aren't exactly the kind of people who like to mingle." |

Neris finally pushes herself away from Zarik and sniffles as she dries her eyes with her shirt.
"I'm sorry for breaking down like that, guys," she says between sniffles, "it's just that I've..." she pauses and looks around before continuing, "I've been worried about Reyn. His role to the cacophony. A fate he never asked for. The thought of being reminded of what you all saved me from and comparing it to what I know about the harpies. I fear what will happen to him." Noticing the air of the conversation, she drops her shoulders and hangs her head, "I'm sorry. I know you're all worried about other things, and this is completely out of nowhere." |

"I don't know." Neris speaks up, "Our birds are pretty adamant about their freedom to do whatever they want, when they want to do it. I'm pretty sure no one will take kindly to anything being forced onto them." She begins to trail off as she finishes her statement. |
